Howard S. Cowan, CFP®

Howie joined Marble Harbor as an investment counselor in May of 2021 with more than 30 years’ experience in the private wealth management industry. Prior to joining Marble Harbor, he was a Vice President & Wealth Management Officer at Washington Trust Company in Providence working directly with clients in the areas of trust administration, financial planning, cash management and client relationship management.

Howie spent most of his career in various roles at Fiduciary Trust Company in Boston. From 2008 to 2016, he was a Vice President & Trust Officer responsible for helping individuals and families manage their wealth and achieve their financial goals. He also served as a Relationship Manager, providing trust administration and custody services to private trustees, family offices and registered investment advisors.

Howie graduated from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™1; and has been a member of the Financial Planning Association of Massachusetts since 2007. Howie also holds a certificate from the Cannon Financial Institute Trust School. From 1997 to 2016, he led and participated in corporate volunteer events through the United Way of Massachusetts Bay.

Howie enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, fishing, attending concerts, volunteering and watching his favorite Boston sports teams. He lives southwest of Boston with his wife and their two sons.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university and three years of full-time personal financial planning experience. To receive CFP® certification, candidates must complete a CFP Board Registered Program or hold an accepted designation, degree or license; pass the CFP®; Certification Examination; and agree to be bound by CFP Board’s Standards of Professional Conduct.
